The Animal Kingdom and Conservation is a wonderful focus for our Imagineers! Incorporating animal conservation and environmental considerations into their designs can lead to some truly innovative and meaningful projects.
Research and Understanding: Start by having your students research different animals and their habitats. Understanding the needs of these animals and the threats they face can help inform their designs.
Sustainable Design: Discuss the principles of sustainable design. How can we create rides and attractions that minimize their impact on the environment? This could include using renewable energy sources, minimizing waste, and designing with the local ecosystem in mind.
Animal-Friendly Design: Challenge your students to design a ride or attraction that not only entertains guests, but also benefits animals. This could be a ride that educates guests about animal conservation, or even a habitat that doubles as an attraction.
Real-World Examples: Look at real-world examples of animal-friendly and environmentally friendly design in theme parks. Disney's Animal Kingdom is a great example, with its focus on animal conservation and education.
Project-Based Learning: Finally, have your students put their knowledge into practice by designing their own animal-friendly and environmentally friendly ride or attraction. This can be a great opportunity for them to apply their Imagineer mindset to a real-world challenge.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Scavenger Hunt
The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a treasure trove of exciting activities that you can indulge in without actually booking a room there. However, one of the most captivating activities that we love to partake in is identifying the diverse range of mammals and birds that traverse the vast savanna of the lodge. It's an exhilarating experience that you can also enjoy from the comfort of your home by printing out the available resources and regularly updated information. These activities offer a fascinating insight into the animal kingdom and their natural habitats.
As you step into the world of EPCOT, a Disney Park, you will be immersed in a unique experience that celebrates the natural sciences. From the vibrant flora and fauna to the innovative technologies that support environmental conservation, the park offers a glimpse into a world where humans and nature coexist in harmony. And with the ongoing transformation of the park, it is set to become an even more spectacular destination, with an abundance of green spaces that inspire us to take better care of our planet.
The Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT is an exceptional celebration of the natural sciences. This festival is our favorite and also the most family-friendly one. You can learn a lot about plants, food-growing, and bee pollination. If you're visiting Walt Disney World Parks during the spring, play Spike the Bee's Pollen Nation Exploration Game and discover important plants across the World Showcase for bees. You'll even win a prize when you finish it!
In honor of Earth Day 2020, Disney asked Conservation Manager Dr. Zak Gezon to share tips on how to create pollinator-friendly gardens or garden areas at home. Dr. Zak has graciously put together a short video featuring some easy and inexpensive tips to attract, encourage, and nourish pollinators in your own backyard.

Epcot The Land
The Land Building at EPCOT is one of our favorite places because it offers a refreshing break from the heat and includes two of our favorite rides: Soarin' and Living with the Land. These rides are both educational and entertaining.
Awesome Planet is a new film in The Land that showcases different aspects of Earth. You can watch a fan video of Awesome Planet to get a glimpse of the lessons it teaches.
Living with the Land is one of our favorite rides in all of Walt Disney World. It is a simple boat ride that takes you through various ecosystems on the planet. The experience is made even more realistic by the sights, sounds, and smells. We also enjoy finding hidden mickeys here. Unfortunately, most YouTube videos don't do this ride justice, but studying ecosystems in your schoolwork can give you a good start.
